Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in diameter overall blazoned as follows: Teal, issuant from a plain point embattled Gules a stylized mountain range Argent, the center peak charged with three mullets in fess Silver Gray, overall a dexter gauntlet palm inward grasping a key bendwise ward upward and a lightning flash bend sinisterwise all of the last. Attached below the shield a Red scroll inscribed "FORGED UNDER FIRE" in Silver letters.

Symbolism
The stylized mountain range denotes the unit's service in Korea and formation at Fort Carson, Colorado. The following three symbols represent the companies that comprise the Battalion: the embattled plain point for the Engineer support, the key for Military Intelligence and the lightning bolt for Signal. The gauntlet holding the key and lightning bolt upon the embattled plain point suggests the forging together of the elements by the Strike Force Brigade. The three green stars adapted from the Iraq flag, symbolize the unit's service during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
